I don’t really think I have a point anymore other than I am just really excited to talk about Sherlock on a Monday morning

As to Cumberbatch/Freeman, I look at it like this: Cumberbatch is a Tyrannosaurus Rex, devouring everything in his path and generally being the top of the food chain. But Freeman is a velociraptor, dodging and weaving and managing to carve a place for himself, too. Cumberbatch’s talent is pretty goddamn titanic and there is nothing subtle about it. Freeman sneaks up on you until one day you go, “HEY. That guy is really good.” I don’t think it’s a matter of saying one is better than the other, because the show wouldn’t work unless they were engaging in a true creative partnership and feeding each other and pushing each other and bringing the best out in one another. To me it’s more that Cumberbatch is so obviously good, while Freeman’s real accomplishment is just standing up to Cumberbatch and managing to create an impression with the T-Rex wrecking havoc around him.
